With thousands of companies selling essential oil products these days, choosing a
quality essential oil is problematic. Determining if it is a real essential oil and not a
fragrance oil can be challenging. Companies creating low grade essential oils or
billing fragrance oils as ‘Aromatherapy Oils’, is one way of getting around the “pure”
part. Unlike base oil, essential oils are volatile substances which may not feel oily at all. Extremely concentrated extracts contain many of the plant’s chemical makeup, when only high grade essential oils are used in Classical Aromatherapy.

With the exception of a few essential oil, as far back as the ancient Egyptians, system of grading was established using numerical labels like “1st grade, 2nd grade and so forth. Many essential oils are adulterated with fillers of varying quality. These fillers are less expensive and when added to the essential oil, produces essential oils which smell almost the same but are of inferior quality.

The producers of essential oils know that the public in general does not know what authentic myrrh or jasmine smells like so they feed on this ignorance. Throwing They mix in a cheaper substance that they have available in quantity. In addition to this, low grade
base oils are frequently used.

Paying special attention to the essential oil bottles ingredient label is vital to consumers when they are considering the purchase of an essential oil. If you can’t find an ingredient label, you should walk away. Lots of these low quality essential oils are often sold at flea markets, by street vendors, or at fairs and so forth.

Keep in mind, better
brands of essential oils may cost more and the reason is because they are worth it.
