Recently, I acquired myself two new juicers. I’ve been feeling quite ill and have been lacking in energy recently and I know that juicing fruit is an ideal way to ensure I am getting my 5-a-day and therefore, all the vitamins and minerals I require. Of all the recipes I have experimented with so far, the following are my three favourites. Each is delicious with its own unique health benefit.

Apple and Kiwi juice:

This recipe is really beneficial for the immune system as it is rich in vitamin C, helping to prevent viruses and colds. This is one of the tastiest juices I have made to date and health benefits of anti-oxidant kiwis like their high fibre content and ability to aid a respiratory system just make me like it even more! Apples also contain a flavanoid called Phloridzin which is great for keeping bones healthy and strong. Apples can even help to lower cholesterol levels.

Apple, Carrot and ginger root juice:

Known as ’sports juice’, this recipe is really great for boosting energy. like to commute to work with a bottle of this in hand as it revives me and prepares my mind for the day ahead. Ginger has long been used as a natural cure for many ailments, including skin problems, fever and digestive complaints. Carrots have been praised for their cancer preventing properties (those with low levels of beta-carotene are twice as likely to develop cancer).

Honey melon and watercress juice:

This recipe is really good for helping with prevention of acne. Though my skin doesn’t suffer from many outbreaks, I find this juice does give my skin a healthy glow. Watercress is crammed with vitamin A, which helps to flush out toxins from the skin. With only two ingredients, I like to add bananas and a splash of orange juice to the recipe for a tasty kick.
