Beginning Aerobics
If you are new to aerobics, don’t feel overwhelmed. A good boot camp workout routine is going to go a long way toward making you healthy, and there are many ways to work out. It’s important to have a routine in which your body is moving quickly and your heart and lungs are forced to work harder than when you are at rest…in other words, aerobic exercise.
Simple movements like running in place and learning the basic steps is a less intimidating place to start. Starting out at the beginner level also helps avoid accidental injury that will keep you from establishing a new boot camp routine.
Beginning aerobics are very easy and they are something that you can do even from home. The goal is to get your heart rate up, so beginning aerobics usually start with walking in place and moving your arms and legs. Then, you gradually proceed to doing more and more movements and to doing them faster.
Again, a great way to begin practicing aerobics is by walking or jogging in place. Once this feels natural for you, add in more movements, such as moving your arms up and down while you walk or jog. Remember, you want to get your heart rate up–you’re going to do that by repeating motions, like jumping jacks, for as many repetitions as possible. As you are getting started with these basic motions, you are working your way up to a great workout routine and also getting in shape as you are learning.
Aerobics usually are more stimulating and fun when performed with music. Use upbeat music with a fast tempo to keep your pace up and to keep you working hard. Music can also be used to plan your routine. For instance, you can change exercise sets when a song ends. Music is an excellent motivator to keep you working out.
