A contact lens remover is a must have for everyone who uses hard and gas permeable contact lenses. These lenses are occasionally hard to remove with the typical “popping out” method. There’s a tendency that the lenses get stuck because of the suction to the cornea, typically hard contact lenses have a habit of securing firmly to the eye. Knowing how to use a contact lens remover properly helps you to take out your hard contact lens easily and safely. You should double check if you are wearing a contact lens before attempting to remove them. Many make the assumption that the contact lenses are still attached but they have been removed already and they end up injuring their eye by poking it with the contact lens remover. Check by looking in a mirror and observe if the lenses are in your eyes. 

If you are certain that you are wearing a contact lens, place a drop of rewetting solution on both your eyes to lubricate the lenses. Dampen the contact lens remover’s suction cup with a drop of rewetting solution. 

The next part is very tricky, but once you get the hang of it, every thing would be copasetic. Place the contact lens remover directly and squarely on the front of the contact lens. At this point the lens will stick to the plunger. Gently pull the plunger away from the eye. The lens will be released easily then do the same steps for the other contact lens.

Keep in mind that you should avoid placing the contact lens remover on the surface of the eye because it could cause corneal abrasion or other eye injuries. Another thing, contact lens remover is not applicable to soft lenses. If you still fail removing the lenses from your eyes, add drops to the eyes to lubricate them and consult an eye doctor to have them removed.
